The Virginia Film Office presents the annual Virginia Independent Film Competition & Festival. In the competition, Virginia independent films are selected as finalists in the categories of Documentaries, Short Films and Features by a panel of judges.

The finalist films are shown in a three part screening series and a judged winner in each category is announced. Additionally, audience members will have the opportunity vote for their favorite film in each category and those films will be awarded Audience Choice Awards. Proceeds from the screening benefit the Virginia Production Alliance.

The competition is only open to Virginia residents and students attending Virginia schools. All entries in the competition must have been filmed mostly in Virginia. For more information about submitting your film to the competition, see the 2010 competition registration form here.
