Brief Synopsis: “Life, Am I Right?” is a heartfelt family drama about Shawn, a son returning home to face familial tensions and responsibilities. While at a work conference, Shawn learns from his mother, Marge, that she and his father, Tony, plan to transfer ownership of their house to his brother Pete. Visiting his aging parents, Shawn confronts their struggles with health, debt, and the emotional weight of their decision. The story explores complex family dynamics, blending humor, nostalgia, and bittersweet moments as Shawn balances his doubts and obligations.
Shawn (Male, 50s White) – A dutiful yet overburdened son caught between his professional obligations and familial responsibilities.
Marge (Female, 70s – 80s, White) – A spry and practical elderly woman who tries to keep everything afloat in the face of her husband’s declining health and mounting financial pressures.
Tony (Male, 70s – 80s, White) – A once-vibrant man now grappling with aging and loss of independence, clinging to dignity through humor and nostalgia.
Pete (Male, Late 40s, White) – A pragmatic and opportunistic younger brother who sees the family house deal as a solution, but whose past relationship with Shawn creates tension.
Old Woman #1 (Female, 70s – 80s, Any Race) – A humorous and blunt elderly friend of Marge.
Old Woman #2 (Female, 70s – 80s, Any Race) – A well-meaning elderly woman who seeks to connect with others.
This is an unpaid project; no travel, transport, or housing will be provided.
All actors will have access to the completed film for their reels.
All filming will be done in Charlottesville. Food will be provided.
