CASTING CALL

I’m casting an Ultra Low Budget short film shooting in Fries, Virginia in early November.

Birdie is a coming of age film about love, loss and longing, set in the aftermath of the Biafran war. It follows a war displaced Nigerian family (a mother and her two teenage daughters) in the summer of 1970 as they try to preserve the mirage of family life in the confines of a catholic refugee house in Virginia. As the war comes to a close, their family dynamic is tested by the arrival of another refugee whose quiet presence brings the reality of the war into view, and forces them to face what remains of their lives back home.

DATES: 1x shoot day between 11/8-11, exact date TBD
RATE: $50-$100/day, depending on role + meals

ROLES: Open to all ethnicities/cultures.

SISTER AGNES – Female, 35-50. Scattered; well meaning. Minimal speaking role. Rate: $100/day.

SISTER AGATHA – Female, 60-70. Witty, with a biting humor. Minimal speaking role. Rate: $100/day.

REVEREND MOTHER – Female, 50-70. Very minimal speaking, one line. Rate: $75/day.

GROUP OF NUNS – Female, 30-60. Rate $50/day.

Travel expenses are not covered. Please only respond to this casting if you are able to self report and work as a local.
