For over 32 years, From the Heart Productions, a top-rated 501(c)3 non-profit, has been awarding the Roy W. Dean Grant to films that make a meaningful contribution to society. We welcome documentaries, narrative features, short films, and web series with budgets of $500,000 or less, at any stage of production. Students are encouraged to apply!
Grant Winner Receives:
- $3,500 in cash
- $1,295 Scholarship to Writers Boot Camp
- $500 in grip, lighting, or expendables from Filmtools

Special Britt Penrod Award:
In addition to the main grant, we are excited to offer the Britt Penrod Award. This $500 prize will be given to a filmmaker with a project that stands out for its unique contribution to society. The recipient of this award does not need to be the Roy W. Dean Grant winner.
