Richmond – ‘Psychology in Film’ Short Film Screenings & Academic Discussion – Byrd Theater – Aug 17 – Free

Psychology in Film will take place on August 17th at the Byrd Theatre (2908 W Cary St, Richmond, VA 23221) in Richmond, Virginia from 1pm-4pm.

The event will showcase a collection of award-winning films with psychological themes. Afterward, a panel discussion will take place with neuroscientists and filmmakers to explore the use of film in raising awareness and provoking conversations around mental health and psychology. 

The screening will include the short films Ping Pong Pigeons, Cici’s Sonata, and End of the Line as well as the feature A Philistine in Queens

The Q&A will include Dr. Kelly Lambert (professor of behavioral neuroscience at University of Richmond and winner of the 2023 Society of Neuroscience Science Educator Award), Dr. Rose Perry (social neuroscientist and Founder/Executive Director of the non-profit Social Creatures) and filmmakers Dr. Charlotte Wincott (neuroscientist and filmmaker), Brandon T. Bailey (director of Cici’s Sonata), Jeff Wincott (action film star), and Liana Marie Zaino (actress and writer). The panel will be moderated by neuroscience-lover, nurse, and designer Norah Caldwell.
