Media IT Specialist
Location:
SW Washington, DC
Job Summary:
Responsible for managing and operating a standalone IT network within a government television production and post-production environment.
Qualifications and Requirements:
Network / Security
- Strong networking skills with experience maintaining and configuring Cisco switches and VLANs
- Strong understanding of basic IP protocols such as DNS and DHCP
- Experience troubleshooting streaming profiles, VTC applications, and various web encoders
Server / Support
- Knowledge of various layer firewalls and ability to use Powershell for MS exchange; active directory – global policies
- Comfortable with MS sql server 2008-2014 (Database building maintenance and conversion) e.g. ScheduAll and SharePoint
- Understanding of VMware ESXi 5.5
Desktop Support
- Microsoft Office Products and Email Support for TV Support Team

- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment with shifting priorities and multiple deadlines

Additional Eligibility Qualifications
- Experience in live television productions and broadcast media
Responsibilities
- Monitor and administer web domain
- Monitor and administration of non-linear edit systems (AVID environment)
- Support and maintain infrastructure for live web delivery, connecting to a wider network
- Responsible for office related email and desktop support
- Responsible for database administration
- Own and manage all IT software and hardware upgrades, maintenance, and monthly backups
- Assist in developing and implementing best practice in IT strategies and processes
- Support Program Manager and Government clients with special programs and projects
Required Education and Experience
- Bachelors Degree in Information Technology
- 5-10 years IT Infrastructure experience in a government environment
- 3 – 5 years experience supporting media-focused team members
